Two times a year, KwikFit commisions a study to find out the market share of the different brands and types of tyre.

As we all know, winter is milder. That’s why the share of winter tyres is falling. 4-season tyres are taking up the slack, rising from 2.3% in 2012 to 22.4% in 2023. Continental and Michelin dominate the market, sharing 33.3%. They are followed by Vredestein, GoodYear and Bridgestone with 29.3% of the market. The next five brands are Hankook, Pirelli, Dunlop, Nokian and Landsail. They hold 15.8% of the market. These 10 brands account for 75.4% of the total market.

The number of tyre brands sharing the market has also changed since last year, falling from 90 to 85. The five biggest brands share 59.6% of the market. These include Continental and Michelin, which together account for 33.3%.

In each category (winter, summer or 4-season), we still find Vredestein, Continental and Michelin, but not necessarily in the same order. For 4-season tyres, for example, Vredestein dominates. These three brands occupy 52% of this category, whereas for winter tyres, the 5 biggest brands occupy only 45%.
